The word Rococo is seen as a combination of the French rocaille, meaning stone, and coquilles, meaning shell, due to reliance on these objects as motifs of decoration. It is my love of all things French that influenced my thought on what the name of the store should be. We took the word rocaille and decided to shorten it thereby making the pronunciation easier. Rokai. We are about antiques, found objects, gifts, home accessories and art. As an interior designer, I often find that what I am looking for in the marketplace cannot be found. I am always on the hunt for objects that can be made in to serviceable pieces of furniture for the home. Another passion is vintage upholstered furniture. The true artist comes out in me when I find a beautiful vintage chair, loveseat or sofa in loving need of restoration. You will find these items and more at Rokai. Need a gift? We also carry jewelry for that special person in your life or a gift for the hostess as well. Need to plan an event? Our event planner, Elisabeth Castle is on site three days a week to help you with your wedding, anniversary, and party planning needs, or by appointment. All events welcome! Need an interior designer? Look no further as Rokai is owned by interior designer, Deborah Chatfield, principle owner of Chatfield Design. Please visit her website for more details at www.chatfielddesign.com. By appointment only. |
